Does expedition reward use ship value or ship count?

For resource and Dark Matter rewards, Inter-War uses the total number of ships, not their price, class or combat power. This is an important distinction when building an expedition fleet.

How does this expedition outcome work?

The formula uses clamp(ship count, 1, 50). One ship gives factor 1, ten ships factor 10, and 50 or more reaches the maximum base factor of 50.

What are the default parameters?

Sending 80, 500 or 5,000 ships does not increase this reward component beyond the value reached with 50. A larger fleet can still affect other things, including how many units are exposed to losses.

What determines the result?

This does not mean exactly 50 ships is always the best composition. You still need to consider cargo, eligible ship-find types, fuel, risk and your expedition bonuses.

How should you use this in practice?

Default event weights are only the built-in starting configuration. An administrator can change them, so the real frequency in your universe can differ from percentages calculated from the default total weight of 112.

What should you watch out for?

Do not treat a single expedition as a guaranteed return on investment. The outcome is random, and even a positive event can be limited by fleet parameters, bonuses or free cargo space.
