An alliance lets players operate as an organized group. You can create your own alliance or apply to an existing one when recruitment is open. Membership makes communication and coordinated economic or military planning easier.
How do you join an alliance?
You can submit an application to a selected alliance or accept an invitation sent by a member with the required permissions. The alliance must have a free member slot, and a player cannot belong to two alliances at the same time.
What roles are available?
The system includes roles such as Founder, Officer, Recruiter and Member. Permissions determine who may process applications, send invitations, change roles, remove members or manage descriptions and recruitment.
Exact rules and formulas
A player can create an alliance only when not already in one. The tag must contain 2–8 characters and may use letters, digits, underscore and hyphen. The name must contain 3–32 characters. Both tag and name must be unique.
A new alliance starts with recruitment enabled. The system distinguishes Founder, Officer, Recruiter and Member roles, and custom ranks can additionally be created with separate permissions for alliance management, members, applications, description editing and circular messages.
Alliances with recruitment enabled can receive applications. Circular messages have anti-spam protection with a 30-second interval between sends.
Important: the founder cannot use the normal leave action. Leadership must first be transferred to another member, or the founder must deliberately disband the alliance.
FAQ — alliances
Can the founder simply leave the alliance?
No. The founder must first transfer leadership to another member or disband the alliance.
Can I cancel an alliance application?
Yes. A pending application can be withdrawn before it is processed.
Alliance and communication limits
The universe defaults to an alliance member limit of 50 players, but this is configurable and may be changed by the administrator. The limit is checked when applications are accepted and when invitations are accepted.
An application message may contain up to 2,000 characters. External and internal alliance descriptions may each contain up to 10,000 characters. A custom-rank name may use up to 32 characters and cannot contain or >.
A circular message supports a subject of up to 120 characters and a body of up to 16 KiB. The same sender must also wait 30 seconds before sending another circular.
How do custom ranks work?
A custom rank has five independent permissions: manage alliance, manage members, manage applications, edit descriptions and send circular messages. The Founder has overriding authority, while some operations are also available to built-in Officer or Recruiter roles.
A custom rank that is still assigned to at least one member cannot be deleted. Leadership can be transferred to another member; the previous founder becomes an Officer and the selected member becomes the new Founder.
