How does Lotto work and what are the odds of winning?

Lotto in Inter-War is a risk mechanic that uses resources stored on the current planet. You choose metal, crystal or deuterium, select a stake and pick a number from 1 to 6. The server then draws its own number from the same range.

How do you win?

You win only when the drawn number exactly matches your pick. With six possible results, the probability of hitting one selected number is 1/6 ≈ 16.67%, while losing is 5/6 ≈ 83.33%.

What is the payout?

A win uses a 3× stake payout. The stake is deducted and the winning payout is then credited, so the net profit is +2× stake. A loss costs the full stake.

Example: staking 100,000 crystal and winning pays 300,000, leaving you 200,000 above the balance you had before the bet.

What is the expected value?

Mathematically, a 1/6 win chance with a 3× gross payout gives an average gross return of 1/6 × 3 = 0.5 stake. Over a very long sequence the average net result is therefore -0.5× stake. Lotto is a risk feature, not a guaranteed resource-growth method.

Which resources can be used?

Metal, crystal and deuterium are supported. The stake must be positive and the planet must hold enough of the chosen resource. Each play is settled in one resource type only.

Is the result drawn server-side?

Yes. The draw is generated on the server rather than supplied by the player’s browser. The client does not decide or send the winning number as the result.

What does Lotto history show?

The Lotto view can present recent wins and aggregates losing stakes by resource for display/statistics. The current implementation keeps the latest 50 wins for that recent-history view.

Common questions

Does every number 1–6 have the same chance?

Yes. One selected number has a 1/6 chance.

Does a larger stake improve the odds?

No. It changes the possible win and loss amount, not the 1/6 probability.

Can Dark Matter be staked?

Not in this mechanic. Lotto uses metal, crystal or deuterium.

How should these values be interpreted?

The formulas and limits above describe the current Inter-War logic. Some parameters are universe configuration values, so a balance update can change a number without changing the underlying rule. If the live game panel displays a different configurable value, that value should be treated as authoritative for the current universe. The formulas are useful for planning, while the final settlement and validation are always performed by the server.

What should be checked before using the mechanic?

Check the current account, planet and fleet state, active bonuses and any validation message shown when the action is attempted. Many Inter-War systems combine several layers: requirements, daily limits, free slots, resources and modifiers from technologies, Resorts, Avatar talents or events. Correctly calculating one formula therefore does not automatically guarantee that an action is available; the other conditions are validated independently.
