Energy is not a normal stored resource; it is a balance required to sustain production. When mines and other consumers demand more energy than the planet provides, the economy cannot operate at full efficiency.
What happens to production?
The server-side production calculation includes the current energy balance when determining effective gain. A deficit reduces efficiency rather than creating “negative resources”. The exact result should be read from the live production view because universe settings and active modifiers may differ.
How do you fix a deficit?
Increase energy production, reduce demand or use energy bonuses. The Engineer currently grants +5% energy per level and the Resort Officer +2% per level.
Does planet position matter?
For solar satellites, yes. Inter-War satellite energy depends on system position, so inner slots have a stronger satellite-energy profile than cold outer slots.

Does a deficit instantly switch everything off?
Do not treat it as a simple 0/1 switch; effective production is computed by the production model with the current balance.
Do larger storages solve an energy deficit?
No. Storage increases resource capacity, not energy generation.
