Planet position in Inter-War affects three things at once: possible colony size, temperature range and solar-satellite output. There is no single best slot. The middle of a system tends to provide the most fields, while colder outer positions favor deuterium production.

Where are the largest planets?
Position 8 has the highest average at 204 fields, followed by 7 at 200 and 9 at 198. Position 8 rolls a base size between 156 and 252 fields. The final result is additionally scaled by the universe planet-size multiplier.
Why choose positions 13–15?
They are normally smaller but much colder, which improves the deuterium temperature factor. Solar satellites are weak there, so their energy economy requires a different plan.
Why choose positions 1–3?
These are the hottest slots and solar satellites are strongest there. The trade-off is weaker deuterium production and, on average, fewer fields than the central positions.
FAQ — choosing a position
Which position is best for a large planet?
Statistically position 8 has the highest average, but each colony is rolled inside its own range, so an individual planet on 7 or 9 can still be larger.
Does the table guarantee an exact field count?
No. Min and max define the random range and the universe planet-size multiplier is applied afterwards.

How should the values in this FAQ be read?
The formulas and limits above describe the current Inter-War logic in the audited code. Some values are configurable per universe, so an administrator can change a multiplier without changing the underlying mechanic. If the live game panel shows a different configurable value, treat the active universe value as authoritative.
What should be checked in practice?
Before making a decision, check current building and research levels, active bonuses, universe parameters and validation messages. Inter-War often combines several layers: the base formula, server speed, Resorts, Officers, Avatar bonuses, Premium and temporary events. The server always performs the final calculation.
