how-do-game-speed-fleet-speed-and-resource-multiplier-work

Inter-War separates several server parameters that affect different systems. The most important are game speed, fleet speed, resource multiplier and planet-size multiplier. They should not be treated as one generic “speed” because each enters different formulas.

What does game speed do?

gameSpeed shortens building, research, ship and defense production times. It appears in the denominator of the base time formulas, so a higher value accelerates queues. It works together with Robotics Factory, Shipyard, Nanite Factory, labs and other time reductions.

What does fleet speed do?

fleetSpeed is passed into the flight-duration formula. It does not rewrite a ship’s catalog statistics; it reduces the real mission duration of the fleet. Fuel is calculated separately, so faster universe fleet speed should not be read as a simple direct fuel multiplier.

What does the resource multiplier do?

resourceMultiplier raises base mine production and the energy output of Solar Plant, Fusion Plant and solar satellites. Final production still depends on energy balance, processing technologies, Officers, Resorts, Avatar modifiers and active events.

What does the planet-size multiplier do?

After the base field count is rolled from the position table, the result is scaled by planetSizeMultiplier. It therefore changes the real size of newly created planets without changing the underlying 1–15 table.

How large is the game world?

The current map and flight logic support galaxies 1–9, systems 1–499 and positions 1–16, with position 16 reserved for expeditions.

FAQ — universe parameters

Are game speed and fleet speed the same?

No. Game speed mainly affects development queues; fleet speed affects flight duration.

Can multipliers differ between universes?

Yes. They are part of each universe configuration.

Example of parameter impact

If two universes contain identical accounts but one uses gameSpeed = 1 and the other gameSpeed = 4, base building, research and Shipyard times in the second universe are four times faster before other reductions. fleetSpeed is a separate flight-time parameter, so a fast economy does not automatically mean equally fast fleets. resourceMultiplier multiplies base mine and energy output, while planetSizeMultiplier scales the number of fields rolled for a newly colonized planet.

How should the values in this FAQ be read?

The formulas and limits above describe the current Inter-War logic in the audited code. Some values are configurable per universe, so an administrator can change a multiplier without changing the underlying mechanic. If the live game panel shows a different configurable value, treat the active universe value as authoritative.

What should be checked in practice?

Before making a decision, check current building and research levels, active bonuses, universe parameters and validation messages. Inter-War often combines several layers: the base formula, server speed, Resorts, Officers, Avatar bonuses, Premium and temporary events. The server always performs the final calculation.
