How does the Shipyard work and what determines build time?

The Shipyard produces ships and defense units. In Inter-War it can be built on planets and moons, and level 1 requires Robotics Factory 2. Base level-1 cost is 400 metal, 200 crystal and 100 deuterium; later levels use a cost factor of 2.

How does Shipyard level affect production time?

For ships and defenses, the base time denominator is 2500 × (1 + Shipyard level) × gameSpeed × 2^Nanite level. Shipyard level raises that factor linearly: level 0 contributes 1, level 5 contributes 6 and level 10 contributes 11 before Nanites and other bonuses.

How does Nanite Factory affect the Shipyard?

Every Nanite level doubles the base ship/defense production speed. For example Shipyard 10 and Nanite 3 produce an infrastructure factor of 11 × 8 = 88. The universe gameSpeed multiplies the base speed as well.

Which additional reductions are applied?

Shipyard timing uses the same reduction group as building time: Constructor, Resort officer effects, Construction Resort, Avatar build-time bonus, temporary bonuses, gameplay modifiers and the active building-time event multiplier. Two accounts with identical Shipyard and Nanite can therefore still have different times.

How does the Shipyard queue work?

At least Shipyard 1 is required before units can be produced. The queue stores ordered units and completion timing. Cancellation has separate resource-refund rules covered by the dedicated Shipyard queue FAQ.

FAQ — Shipyard

Does Robotics Factory directly speed ship production?

In the current ship formula, Shipyard level replaces Robotics level. Robotics is still required to unlock Shipyard and Nanite Factory.

Does Shipyard work on moons?

Yes. It is allowed on both planets and moons.

Shipyard comparison example

Shipyard 5 with no Nanites gives an infrastructure factor of 1 + 5 = 6. Shipyard 10 with Nanite 3 gives 11 × 8 = 88. With identical gameSpeed and no other reductions, the second setup therefore has about 14.67 times the base speed factor of the first. Final unit times still depend on each unit’s cost and all active reductions. For large ship or defense batches, raising Nanites can therefore change total queue time much more strongly than adding one more ordinary Shipyard level.

How should the values in this FAQ be read?

The formulas and limits above describe the current Inter-War logic in the audited code. Some values are configurable per universe, so an administrator can change a multiplier without changing the underlying mechanic. If the live game panel shows a different configurable value, treat the active universe value as authoritative.

What should be checked in practice?

Before making a decision, check current building and research levels, active bonuses, universe parameters and validation messages. Inter-War often combines several layers: the base formula, server speed, Resorts, Officers, Avatar bonuses, Premium and temporary events. The server always performs the final calculation.
